Introducing Katy

I’m a bit of a self-confessed craft addict – I’ve tried my hand at pottery, batik, painting, art…you name it, I’ve tried it. But I’ve combined two of my greatest passions, printmaking and calligraphy and now run my card and printmaking business Letters & Lino.

All of my prints are original designs, drawn by hand and transferred onto a lino block, carved by hand using sharp tools, then hand printed. Many of my prints and cards can be produced with personalised hand-lettered calligraphy.

All of my prints are limited edition...

If you have an idea in mind for a print you would like to commission, then please get in touch.

Hand carving

I work from my lovely garden studio in a rural village in the Cotswolds. Much of my work is inspired by nature and the setting of my studio perfectly enhances this – nestled in between native hedgerow and fruit trees I’m lucky enough to watch busy birds and other wildlife as I work.

Much of my work is inspired by nature...

I also observe the changing of the seasons being close to the flora and fauna, and this is often reflected in my work – for my Seasons series I designed, carved and printed each print in unison with the season, taking note of which plants, flowers and berries were flourishing at the time.

I’m also drawn to the sea, and created my ‘Salcombe’ linocut during lockdown when I missed being able to visit the coast.

I was then commissioned by Whistlefish to create ‘Padstow’ and ‘St Ives’, adding two more prints to my Coastal collection.

All my prints are limited edition and as each one is printed by hand you have the joy of owning a piece of art that is completely individual and unique, as each piece will have its own character.

I’m a huge believer that art should be accessible to all, and am pleased to be able to offer my prints at affordable prices.

I’m keen to ensure my printmaking practices are as sustainable as possible. I predominantly use Cranfield’s Caligo Safe Wash Inks which are made with nontoxic oil & clean up with soap and cold water rather than any chemicals.

As sustainable as possible...

I use wood free or 100% recycled cotton rag paper, both of which are acid free. I do use cellophane sleeves to protect my unframed prints, but try and recycle as much other packaging as possible.

Linocut materials

After completing my BA Joint Honours in Film & Literature at the University of Warwick, I spent a decade working in the television industry in London, building on my storytelling experience with editorial roles within the Factual Entertainment genre, becoming an established Producer/Director and Edit Producer.

Falling in love with the process...

Moving back to Gloucestershire seven years ago I began my journey as a printmaker, first experimenting with linocut in 2018 and quickly falling in love with the process. What started as a hobby and creative outlet (messily dabbling at the kitchen table!) quickly grew when friends and family encouraged me to open an Etsy shop.

I started exhibiting and selling at print fairs and craft markets and the rest is history!
